Heritage news!
Lincoln College’s original building – 45 Brougham Place – is about to undergo significant restoration to its external woodwork. Sarah Construction will begin work on the veranda, which has been closed since 2008 due to OHS&W issues,  in January 2012. Heritage architect Bill Kay has designed a new veranda that will be as close as possible to the original. The new design however, includes modern safety features and stronger construction principles. Bill will be able to keep an eagle eye on the progress of the works from his high rise apartment next door! The work will take about 2 months to complete. The project  is made possible thanks to a Federal Government Environment grant, grants from the Adelaide City Council, and Lincoln College friends and alumni. If you would like to contribute to the project, please contact the Principal on 08 8290 6000 during business hours. The veranda will be officially re-opened in April as part of our Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.

Graham Fricker AM.
Mr Fricker's appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) has continued a family tradition for excellence. Mr Fricker, who was recognised for his role with the Australian Institute of Building and years of community service, joins his brothers Malcolm and Brian (previous recipients), in receiving Australia Day award honours. Mr Fricker joined the AIB in 1955 and served in a number of roles, including national president, national vice-president and overseas chapter president. The Fricker family are most famous for building the Hilton Hotel Adelaide.  The Fricker Brothers have long served Lincoln College as building and development advisors, with Graham most recently heading the financial appeal for the rewiring of #45. Graham was a long serving member of the College Council. We refer to Graham as one of “Lincoln’s living treasures” – we were extremely honoured to endorse his nomination and are sincerely happy that his nation has honoured him in this manner.
